“Doc, how can I get that dewy supermodel glow?”
I get this question from my patients all the time, especially lately. The answer? Nothing can give you that glowy-looking skin like a well-formulated anti-aging face oil!
Now before you start thinking about how face oils can clog your pores…
Or that it isn’t suitable for oily skin…
Or that face oils can make your skin look super oily or greasy…
Let me stop you right there – because while it’s true that some face oils are guilty of these things…
I’ve personally curated a select list of 5 top formulas that I’ll be sharing with you today that I believe will completely change the way you feel about face oils.
The truth is, a well-formulated face oil can be a wonderful addition to your skincare routine, especially if you’re looking for visible age-defying results.1

Face oils are known to:
Promote visible hydration by helping to combat dry-looking skin so your overall appearance is smoother and softer. 2
Help act as a barrier – they are formulated to seal in moisture and help fend off visible signs of aging caused by environmental stressors. 3
Visibly nourish your skin. Top-quality face oils contain lots of vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids which can help keep your skin looking healthy. 4
And the best part? Oils can be great for most skin types, even oily or combination skin.
As a board-certified dermatologist who has firsthand tested over 30+ different face oils, here’s my shortlist!
#1 Naked & Thriving Prevent Anti-Aging Face Oil
Topping the list is Prevent Anti-Aging Face Oil! This is an easy face oil to recommend to any patient of mine, not just because it’s backed by clinical results… but because of the amazing visible results I’ve seen myself!!
I love that it’s super lightweight, and it gives my skin this dewy, moisturized feel without any greasiness.
Since adding this oil to my permanent routine, I’ve noticed a reduction in the appearance of my wrinkles, and my skin has looked fresher and more radiant. It feels so hydrating!
And it’s not just me who feels this way! Patients of mine who have tried Prevent have loved it, and they have continued to use it as a final step in their morning and nighttime skincare routines!
The price point is amazing for the quality of ingredients you’re getting in this Certified Vegan formula. I love that it combines Moringa, Rosehip, and Jojoba Oil – three powerhouse ingredients:
Moringa Oil. This oil is rich in antioxidants and has been shown to support skin hydration for a smoother, softer appearance. 5
Rosehip Oil. Studies show this oil is rich in omega fatty acids which can help target visible dark spots for a more even-looking skin tone. 6
Jojoba Oil. Research shows this oil is an excellent moisturizer that can help skin look plump and refreshed. 7
I put this oil on as the last step in my skincare routine before applying sunscreen, and it gives my skin that subtle glowy look that’s so in right now, and it shines even through my makeup!
At night, I apply Prevent as the last step in my skincare routine to help lock in all my other products.
It’s rare you find an oil that does it all! So if you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines & look visibly younger give Prevent a try!
#2 Aesop Fabulous Face Oil
Next up is the Aesop Fabulous Face Oil – it’s another favorite of mine. Similar to Prevent, it feels lightweight and not greasy, and the brand is Certified Vegan and too!
The positives don’t stop there either: as soon as I applied this oil, my skin felt baby-soft and looked visibly brighter!
My only caveat about this product was that it contains certain essential oils.
What’s wrong with essential oils? Well they are often heavily fragranced, which can trigger sensitive skin (if you’re using essential oils for the aroma that’s a different story!) So for this face oil in particular, I would recommend running it by a dermatologist first, especially if you have sensitive skin! After that, I’d do a patch test too…
That being said, I personally didn’t find it to have a super strong fragrance. Its scent was quite subtle, with a hint of floral notes that I found quite pleasant.
Still, better safe than sorry if you’re worried about potential irritation!
#3 Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil
Clarins Blue Orchid oil comes in at 3rd on my list because the brand has a ton of awareness and cult-like loyalty among skincare fans. Some of my patients who have used this face oil really like it too!
It smells clean and fresh, and when I used it myself, I felt like it made my skin instantly look brighter and softer, even though it did feel a bit greasy.
This face oil does feel thicker than the first two on this list – I would say a bit of patting is necessary since I found it doesn’t really absorb quickly. That’s why I would only feel confident recommending this oil for people with skin that feels dry.
#4 Augustinus Bader The Face Oil
The reason this product is so low on my list is because of the price. It’s expensive, and I typically prefer to recommend high-quality products that are affordable and sustainable for everyone’s budget – The last thing you want is to fall in love with a product that you wouldn’t be willing to buy again!
This face oil feels really nice and lightweight, and it doesn’t have a strong fragrance. I feel like it effectively targets the appearance of wrinkles and makes my skin look and feel hydrated. It didn’t give me as much of a glowy look as some of the other products on this list, so if that’s what you’re after, I’d skip this one.
Also, this face oil absorbs very quickly, so if you’re someone with oily skin, this could be a good product to consider!
#5 Tata Harper Beautifying Face Oil
There are many reasons why I like this oil… but there are also a few reasons why I don’t. Let’s start with the positives!
When it comes to application, feel, and texture, this face oil sits somewhere in the middle – it doesn’t feel as heavy as Clarins, but it’s not as light as Prevent. It’s formulated with antioxidants, so this would be a good one to apply in the mornings.
I did find that it made my skin feel silky smooth and hydrated, and I feel like it does a good job of targeting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also, it gave my skin a natural, radiant-looking glow. So it ticks off all the boxes there!
On the flip side though, I found that it is a bit pricey for what you’re getting. I also found this one to be noticeably more fragranced than other oils on this list – this is something I really didn’t like because sometimes fragrance can trigger sensitive skin. Thankfully it didn’t for me, but I couldn’t say the same for other people with sensitive skin!
Ultimately, if your skin can tolerate fragrance well and you’re willing to splurge, this could be worth a try!
